Broken marriages, medical conditions, misunderstandings, family issues, financial problems, stress at work, and so many more. Everywhere I turn, I see someone in pain. I feel helpless because most times there isn’t much I can do to help except be a friend, a colleague, or a sister. I can also pray and my consolation is that I know my prayer helps.I feel that the pain we suffer is sometimes self inflicted. For people out there who are of the same faith, you would understand what I mean. When things go wrong we question God not knowing that sometimes our actions caused it in the first place. I wonder if anyone remembers the scene from Spiderman 2 where Peter confessed to Aunt May that he was the cause of Uncle Ben’s death because he did not try to stop the thief and as a result his Uncle Ben was killed?Anyway I don’t believe in karma but I do believe that sin in the world today hurts us - some of it may hurt us directly or some may reach us from some far reaching place. Recently a China manufacturer has been found to have sold toxic cough syrup to people in Peru. Someone’s greed in one country has caused death in another. The family members of the people who died are sure to question. Why did God let this happen to their loved one? But you see God didn’t do anything, we did it to ourselves!

Patience is a Virtue

I realize now that patience is not only a virtue but it helps us make better decisions. If it is free, apply caution.

Surprisingly, I did get something for free a few days ago. I went to a car mechanic to have my car inspected. I wanted this done by a third party and not my car dealer. You see, my car warranty is about expire and I wanted to see if there were any mechanical or electrical faults that would require a warranty claim.

I basically don’t trust my car dealer. I mean, why is it that most cars break down or start giving problems after the warranty period?

Well, they found a leak in my power steering cables because there were oil stains on the underside of the car. With this knowledge, I can claim for replacement parts. And after the claim, I am going back again - he offered to check to see if they actually changed it!

And he didn’t charge me a single cent.

And this is what we would call, a good business strategy - he has already ensured that I am a returning, or a future customer

I am a firm believer of free service where possible. When I used to run my own business, I often gave people free legal advice or try to help them in a way so that they can help themselves. If I was aware of it then, I would ask them to Pay It Forward.

How shall I pay it forward, in this case?

A Collection of...

...thoughts, reflections, wisdom and of my faith stories.
